People might see Buckley as a little town, says Avril Davies, but a dress designed there has made it to Paris. Pink Daisy Prom, with its sister business Pink Daisy Garment Care, designed and produced the Pink Daisy Signature Dress for 18-year-old performer Ruby Brown, who opened a fashion show in Paris with a live performance.

Ruby, from Prestatyn, is a singer-songwriter and international model. She first approached Pink Daisy after being invited to Paris the previous year, when the team sponsored her with a red prom dress to perform in. When she was invited back to open the show, she wanted something entirely unique.

The result was inspired by 1960s fashion icon Twiggy and created around Ruby's image, music and personality. The printed image on the fabric was taken by Ruby's father and shows her wearing the original red dress, and a label stitched to the side carries Ruby's signature, with the year printed on the reverse.

"It was designed by me, but it was absolutely Pink Daisy teamwork," said owner Avril. "Everyone played a part in sourcing the fabrics, organising the printing and making up the dress." After weeks spent sourcing materials as locally as possible, the team handmade the dress in just three days using skilled pattern-free techniques.

Pink Daisy has been part of the Buckley community for more than 25 years, starting as a dry cleaning and garment care business specialising in wedding dresses, alterations and preservation. The promwear side launched three years earlier and has grown to include bespoke designs.

Today Pink Daisy Prom, at Daisy House on Mill Lane, offers designer gowns in sizes 0 to 28, one-to-one appointments with the whole dressing room and a personal stylist, free fittings subject to availability, and a design-your-own-dress service. Its Pinky Promise means it never sells the same dress to the same school, not even in a different colour.

"We feel very blessed to have been part of Ruby Brown's journey," Avril said. Further collaborations are already being discussed.
