Denbighshire Leisure lines up a winter of swimming, play and shows in Rhyl and Prestatyn

Keeping children busy in the school holidays is a challenge when the weather turns, and Denbighshire Leisure Ltd has a packed programme to help across its sites in Rhyl and Prestatyn.

SC2 in Rhyl, the company's flagship attraction, has been running Halloween-themed sessions in its waterpark, Ninja TAG and Adventure Play areas. In Prestatyn, the leisure centre has been running spooky editions of its popular iGames and Clip 'n Climb sessions, while at Nova younger visitors can enjoy a pirate-themed Adventure Play area and adults can unwind in the play café.

"We all know how difficult it can be to keep children entertained during the school holidays, especially if the weather's not on our side," said managing director Jamie Groves. "We love nothing better than seeing children staying active and having fun with friends, old and new."

The company has also renewed its partnership with Heart North and Mid Wales for a second year to promote its venues. The two first worked together in 2025 to support the reopening of SC2. "Heart North and Mid Wales has a huge audience and we believe this partnership will benefit not only DLL, but for all of Denbighshire," Jamie said.

For families who prefer their entertainment on stage, the Pavilion Theatre in Rhyl has been hosting Unicorn Live, with pop and musical theatre hits and a real unicorn named Sparkle, and Illusion Impossible, a magic and illusion show for all ages.

Upstairs at the Pavilion, the 1891 Restaurant and Bar has a full winter programme, from a Northern Soul and Modern Soul night on 7 November and a Festive Caribbean night on 28 November to Christmas party nights, a Christmas Soul Party on 18 December and a New Year's Eve party.

Between waterslides, climbing walls, ninja courses and dance floors, there are plenty of ways to stay active and sociable as the nights draw in.

Details of sessions and bookings are on the Denbighshire Leisure websites, including 1891rhyl.com for the restaurant's events, where bookings for the festive nights can be made online.
