One of Gwynedd's favourite family days out has new custodians. GreenWood Family Park in Y Felinheli has been bought by the Wood Family Group, which has promised new investment in rides, attractions, play experiences and guest facilities.

The park welcomes more than 110,000 visitors a year and has more than 15 themed rides and attractions, many of them focused on adventure and learning in nature. Its best-known ride is the Green Dragon Roller Coaster, described as the world's first people-powered ride of its kind, and it is also home to Solar Splash, the UK's first solar-powered ride.

"GreenWood is an incredible park with a proud history and a loyal community of visitors. We feel privileged to become its custodians," said Andrew Wood, director of the Wood Family Group. "Our priority is to honour the park's heritage, protect the values that have made it so successful and build on those foundations for the future."

A spokesperson for the park said the sale marks an exciting new chapter, and that existing staff will continue to play a vital role in shaping its future. Further details of the plans will be shared in the coming months.

The previous owners, Continuum Attractions, operated GreenWood for seven years and invested £1.5 million, including a tipi glamping village. Chief executive Andrew Pawson wished the new owners every success and thanked the team whose passion and creativity have made the park special for families.

There is plenty to explore. Alongside the headline rides, the park has TreeTop Towers, a barefoot trail, the Forest Glider and Cwtch Corner, plus soft play in the Woodbarn Café, alpaca walks and school trips focused on learning outdoors.

Families who want to make a weekend of it can stay over in one of the park's tipis, and the central facilities include indoor soft play and a café, with more catering outlets dotted around the site. This half term the main park is open daily for SpookWood, its Halloween event, which runs until 1 November, and the soft play is open throughout.

Tickets, opening times and details of the park's glamping and birthday parties are at greenwoodfamilypark.co.uk.
