Rhyl's rock and metal fans have a date for the diary this Christmas. Up To 11, the all-day event run by local promoter Blood & Lipstick/We Rhyl Rock You, returns to Rhyl Late Lounge on Sunday 13 December.

The event was first staged at the venue at the end of August and proved such a success that it is now set to become a regular fixture on the region's underground music calendar.

Live music will run from 2pm to 11pm, with a rock DJ keeping the energy up between sets. The line-up features Rogue Angels, Mother Thunder, Viral Strain, Orion Pax, Ogun, Bound By Burdens and Neon Bulldozer.

The promoter has also been busy with Headsticks, the band known for what they call revolutionary punk roots rock and roll, who played a well-received show at the Late Lounge in Rhyl in September.

The promoter is now taking Headsticks to G21 at the Saddle in Chester on Friday 22 January for their Almost Acoustic Tour, a run aimed at smaller venues ahead of a full show planned for late 2027. Rhyl singer-songwriter Kieron Dyson will support, keeping a local voice on the bill, and the promoter's website is the place to check for more dates as they are announced.

Headsticks have been performing and recording since late 2012 and have built a following that spans folk and roots, post-punk, punk, rock and blues. Fans of upbeat songs, singalongs and acoustic ballads have all found something to like, and the organisers have urged people to book early because they expect high demand. Their shows are noted for being built on "honesty, integrity, bloody hard work, and a passion for what they believe".

Grassroots promoters like We Rhyl Rock You give up-and-coming bands somewhere to play and give local audiences a reason to stay in town for live music, and the decision to make Up To 11 a regular date is good news for the North Wales coast's heavier scene.
